Civic Archaeological Museum of Romans

A new immersive and interactive space

The Civic Archaeological Museum of Romans d’Isonzo (CMAR) offers an innovative approach to the museum experience, combining interactive digital storytelling with displays of artefacts and archaeological discoveries from the Romans necropolis. At the centre of the exhibition, an immersive space invites visitors to engage with narratives drawn from Lombard history and the people who shaped it.

The Building

The museum, located in Palazzo Candussi Pasiani, which also houses the Romans Civic Library, has undergone complete restoration and is now a unique place for promoting the cultural heritage of the area.

Interactive touchscreens

Alongside the rich analogue heritage, the exhibition is enhanced by an innovative digital display that offers an interactive and engaging experience for everyone.
The installation has been designed as an immersive and inclusive space equipped with interactive touch devices that allow visitors to travel through time and rediscover the history of this ancient people, their presence in Romans and their reign in the Italian peninsula, starting with their legendary journey from the northern lands to Italy in 568.

VR Experience

The visit to the Civic Archaeological Museum of Romans ends with an immersive experience that allows visitors to take a real journey through time, to discover life in the Lombard villages, the battles and funerary traditions.

Accessibility

Each section of the museum is equipped with QR codes that provide access to accessible versions of the captions and further information. A dedicated app with an audio guide for the visually impaired and blind visitors ensures an inclusive cultural experience, designed to share and enhance the heritage with the widest possible number of visitors.
